Values

Often called cultural values, or core values, these are the Springest Values. They hopefully inspire your behaviour as a person, acting in the roles that you have at Springest. You can read them in the format of "we are..." or maybe ask yourself "am I... ?". We state what it means "to be..." but also what it doesn't, so you can detect and discuss behavior that goes against these values. This will always be a living document that changes as Springest and Springeteers change. Feel free to provide feedback and ask questions!

Ambitious
We have an ambitious purpose and want people to reach their full potential in life and business. We’re eager and curious to learn and improve ourselves. We persevere when it’s hard and apply a growth mindset to solve problems.
We're not easily satisfied and don't appreciate the status quo. We don't stop when it's good enough to just pass. We don't assume we're merely a victim of our surroundings (fixed mindset), but believe we can impact it.
Conscious
We try to be mindful, not creating a false sense of security or hiding from reality. We are thankful for opportunities we get and for relations we have. We consider all input and trust others to do the same.
We don't do because it's simply done like that. We don't "work hard, play hard" because that sounds good. We don't shy away from uncomfortable discussion, or from concluding a mistake was made.
Data driven
We make decisions based on facts, and try to gather them if they lack. We validate ideas based on merit, not on who has them. We change course when reality changes, instead of holding on to predictions of the future.
We don't rely on experience, or on convincing arguments. We don't listen to whomever shouts the loudest.
Direct
We “
Do It Live! ”. We execute on our ideas by taking action and validating assumptions. We request what we need from others without the need for workplace politics. We respond with constructive criticism when it's due, focussing on the work, not the person.
We don't just make a plan or hold a meeting to tackle a problem. We don't influence each other or our customers with heroic behavior or other favors to get things done.
Energetic
We put energy into our work and communications. We strive to be vital and take our physical health as seriously as our mental and spiritual development. We encourage and cheer each other with enthusiasm and are not afraid to show it!
We don't take health for granted, and we don't hide when we don't feel energetic or see someone else who doesn't feel like they're fit for work.
Fast
We act based on what we know, instead of waiting for what we don't know yet. We respond quickly to minimise the chance of unclarity. We move fast and are OK with making mistakes, as long as we own and correct them.
We don't say things like "let's look into that!" without taking real action. We don't just wait for others, customers or Springeteers, when we need something.
Open
We appreciate fresh ideas and different perspectives. People can bring their full human self to Springest. We recognise their personal uniqueness, their efforts and their achievements.
We don't judge on other things than data. We don't window dress, nor do we play things down when they simply look good.
Transparent
We show what we do and why. We dare to make ourselves vulnerable take this into account when people share their feelings, learnings and mistakes. We discuss the positive, the negative and the scary things.
We don't hide information that might influence a decision. We explain our reasoning.

Values FAQ:

  • Many of them overlap! That’s OK, they belong together and complement each other
  • Something is unclear! That’s OK too, but please tell the role holder so s/he can clarify or add examples.
  • What’s the difference with the  10 Springest Skills ?Values are about how you behave as a person, towards each other and to your customers. Skills are the tools you need to do that. They should indeed overlap a bit.
  • What’s the difference with the  Springest Brand Identity ? That’s about the brand, not about you as a person, although you do serve to express it at least partially too. The Brand Identity should be the output of embracing the Values by applying the Skills. They should indeed overlap a bit.
  • What do I do if I see someone not expressing these values?Talk about it, discuss what the value means for you and how you would like to see the other person act instead. If you disagree, ask a third person with a relevant role to weigh in, or simply agree to disagree.
  • What do I do if I disagree with a value? First, be sure that you understand the value correctly by talking to the right role. If you indeed disagree, make clear that you do, and discuss whether that conflict is reason to leave Springest because it might make you and people around you unhappy if you're not aligned with them.
  • Why are they in this order? It’s alphabetic, to signal that the order or importance will always depend on the context.
